Out and About
The first major opportunity to explore the country during our school year is the Heritage Open Days event. This is organised by English Heritage and there are events going on all over the country. This year the event takes place from 12th- 15th September 2013. What makes this event particularly special is that many places which usually charge an entrance fee are open for free. Also, several places which are not normally open to the public open their doors and allow access for a day or two. (Some may charge small entrance fees). Details of events will be advertised locally and on the Heritage Open Days website (http://www.heritageopendays.org.uk)
The Local Area
Feltwell Elementary School is attached to the village of Feltwell, on the edge of the Fens and the Breckland. While Feltwell is in Norfolk, we are very close to the county borders of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. All three counties are rural counties rich in farmland, natural landscapes, local history and culture.
