Saint David's Day
What is St. David's Day?
Saint David's Day falls on the 1st March each year. St. David is the patron saint of Wales, so this is a Wales' national day. On St. David's Day, the Welsh often wear a daffodil (daffodils are Wales' national flower). Some Welsh people will wear a leek (a vegetable from the onion family) in their hats!

Did you know?
Did you know that the place with the longest name in the U.K. is in Wales? It is on the island of Anglesey and is called "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch". The local people call it "Llanfair p.g." for short. Here are some clips about the name. The first one is a man hosting a quiz show, who has to ask a question containing the place name. The other two are songs which might help you learn to say the place name. Why don't you practise saying Llanfairpwyllgwyngllgogerychwynrobwllllantisiliogogogoch until you have perfected it!
